Did we just use ‘ballons’ and ‘adults’ in the same sentence? Hell, yeah! Contrary to popular opinion, balloon games are not just for kids who go camping or for teens that go on team buildings. Balloon games can be perfect icebreakers when you’re meeting new people, great activities for getting to know each other, or for having fun with your family during backyard gatherings.
We’ve done some research and we’ve made up a list of the best games with balloons for adults you could find! Is a party coming up? Is the work team building right around the corner? Be ready to bookmark our article (*or at least take some screenshots of these fun games with balloons for adults)!
Party games with balloons for adults
1. The dance battle
What do you need?
- Couples/Pairs of 2
- A good playlist
How is it played?
This one’s a classic party game with balloons for adults. There’s no limit for the players. The more, the merrier. Give each couple a balloon and ask them to hold them between their bodies. Next, play some tunes. Make it more challenging by switching between different genres of music. Tango? Blues? Latino? Add them to your list! If balloons are dropped or popped, the players are out. The last couple standing wins the game.
2. Truth or dare
What do you need?
- Balloons
- A marker
- Post-its
How is it played?
‘Truth or dare’ is the perfect game no matter the context. You can make it work even as a team building activity with balloons. However, it needs a little prepping. Before blowing up the balloons, place in them a piece of paper with a truth or a dare. Come up with statements or challenges for players to admit or complete. Once you have your people ready, hand out a balloon to each one of them. Now comes the fun part: ask them to pop the balloon, read the note, and play ‘Truth or dare’. They have to either admit the truth or complete the challenge. If they refuse to do so, you could come up with some penalties.
*Tip: If you want to turn this into a drinking game, one idea could be to make them drink a shot of their favorite beverage.
3. The centipede dance
What do you need?
- Lots of balloons
- Some music
How is it played?
Ask your players to blow up the balloons and form a line. Next, they have to place their balloon against the back of the player standing in front of them, while holding the balloon in place with their chest. Now that everything is set, you can play their favorite track.
This is a great party game with balloons for adults since the main goal is to have some fun on that dance floor! Watch out though: players must not drop the balloons on the floor (*and that might be a bit difficult once they unleash their ‘Michael Jackson’ spirit)!
4. Surprise pop
What do you need?
- Balloons of different colors
- Ribbons
- Duct tape
- Clothespins
- At least 2 pairs of players
How is it played?
‘Surprise pop’ is a hell of a game for couples, but it works just fine if you pair up with your best friend or work colleague. Each ‘couple’ should receive an equal amount of balloons. The more colors and shapes, the better! Once the game starts, one of the players has to dress up the other using balloons. Hence, creativity has no limits here! Players may use different accessories to decorate their teammates as funny as possible! Depending on what they have at hand, they may use ribbons, duct tape, and clothespins to attach the balloons to the partner’s body. The pair who pops everything first wins.
This could be a great ‘Minute to win it’ game, so if you’re looking to make everything more challenging, start a 60-second timer!
Team building balloon games
1. The ring toss
What do you need?
- A plastic circle ring
- A bunch of balloons
How is it played?
‘The ring toss’ works both as a team building balloon game, as well as a party game with balloons for adults. That’s because it doesn’t require too many supplies, can be played both indoors and outdoors, and will definitely stir up the fun! First, you need to place a ring on the ground. Next, ask the players to toss the ball into the ring as a contest. Whoever puts the most balloons in the hoop wins the game. It’s harder than it looks when you have to do that with a weightless object!
2. The race
What do you need?
- 4 balloons for each player
How is it played?
This one’s on the clock! Hand out 4 balloons to each player. They will need an assistant who will tie the balloon with a ribbon once it’s blown up. Start the timer. Whoever manages to inflate all 4 balloons the fastest wins the game. WAIT! There’s one more trick: players must do that without using their hands. And suddenly, this game doesn’t seem so simple anymore, does it?
3. The sniper
What do you need?
- 2 teams
- A box filled with gifts or candies
- A bunch of balloons
How is it played?
Split the players into 2 teams and draw a mark on the ground or floor. Every participant receives a balloon of a different color. Place the box with sweets at a 3-meter distance away from everyone. The players are now required to blow up their balloons without tying the knot. Everyone steps up to a mark drawn on the floor and releases the balloon. The player whose balloon flies the closest to the prize box wins. This is one of the great party games with balloons for adults because it can be played both indoors and outdoors while taking pictures of players trying to win the contest. We assure you that ‘The sniper’ will turn everything into a barrel of laughs since no one can predict where the balloons will land.
4. Balloon basketball
What do you need?
- A basketball court (or at least a plastic basketball ring)
- At least 2 players/teams
How is it played?
This is a one-on-one contest. It’s also a great team building balloon game, so if you’re up for some outdoor fun, you should give it a go! Just like you might have figured it out, ‘Balloon basketball’ is just like basketball only that it requires a balloon instead of a ball. It might sound silly, but we tell you: it’s quite difficult, but the fun is guaranteed!
